Frequently Asked Questions

You can join the Malindi Beach Challenge volunteer team by signing up through our official registration form on the website. Volunteers help with athlete coordination, environmental cleanup, event logistics, and community activities. It’s a hands-on opportunity to contribute to Kenya’s first eco marathon and be part of a global sustainability movement.

Volunteers should be passionate about sports, environmental conservation, and community service. You’ll be working outdoors — on the beach and around event zones — so teamwork, commitment, and readiness for physical activity are key. Prior event or environmental experience is welcome but not required; training and orientation will be provided.

The application process is simple:

  1. Complete the online volunteer form available on our website.

  2. Choose your preferred role (e.g., registration, cleanup crew, logistics, or hospitality).

  3. Await confirmation and onboarding details via email.
Selected volunteers will receive orientation materials, schedules, and identification badges before event day.

You can support our mission by sharing posts from the Malindi Beach Challenge official social media pages, inviting friends to sign up, or using hashtags like #RunningAgainstPlasticPollution and #EcoMarathonKenya. Every share helps us reach more people committed to a cleaner, more sustainable coastline.

Organizations and brands can join as event sponsors or CSR partners by contacting the organizing committee directly. Partnering allows you to align your brand with impactful environmental CSR events, gain international exposure, and support Kenya’s journey toward sustainable sports tourism. Partnership packages range from Title Sponsors to Community Partners — each with exclusive benefits and visibility.

Safety and sustainability are the foundation of the Malindi Beach Challenge & Festival. Every race is scheduled to align with low-tide conditions to ensure stable running surfaces and minimize risks. Certified lifeguards, medical staff, and emergency response teams will be stationed along the route. Environmentally, the event enforces a zero single-use plastic policy, uses biodegradable race materials, and partners with UNEP and UNESCO for sustainable operations. All participants and volunteers receive training on responsible waste management and ocean-friendly practices — making this Kenya’s first truly eco-conscious marathon experience.
